Acquaforte e puntasecca, 190x156 mm. Firma sull’inciso a dx: Rembrandt 1664. Piccoli margini. Buono stato di conservazione.

Stupenda incisione del predicatore mennonita Cornelis Claesz Anslo, raffigurato con un elegante abito fiammingo di pelliccia e un cappello a larga falda. L’uomo, con lo sguardo rivolto verso sinistra, tiene in piedi con la mano destra un libro e stringe uno stilo, mentre sul tavolo un calamaio e un libro aperto completano la scena. La firma di Rembrandt è poco visibile sullo schienale della sedia alle spalle del soggetto.

Stunning engraving of the Mennonite preacher Cornelis Claesz Anslo, depicted with an elegant Flemish fur dress and a wide-brimmed hat. The man, with his eyes turned to the left, holds a book upright in his right hand and holds a stylus, while on the table an inkwell and an open book complete the scene. Rembrandt's signature is hardly visible on the back of the chair behind the subject.
