18 acqueforti compreso il frontespizio di circa 90x190 mm. alla battuta del rame. Didascalie nel margine inferiore. Filomargine. Acqueforti incollate agli angoli su cartoncino. Su alcune incisioni alcune macchiette, ma bell’esemplare.

Serie completa edita nel 1633 di 18 acqueforti originali in raro secondo stato su tre, numerazione progressiva dei fogli nell'angolo inferiore destro, margini di ca. 15-20 mm. Rappresenta in modo immaginario i tristi avvenimenti che nel 1633 afflissero la Lorena quando i francesi assediarono Nancy. Le composizioni tragiche rispecchiano lo stato d'animo di un Callot ammalato, che giunto agli ultimi anni di vita assisteva alla tragica fine del suo paese. Condition Report

18 etchings (including the titlepage) of 90x190 mm. Captions in the lower margins. Little margins. The etchings are glued to the corners on cardboard. On some engravings some spotting, but nice specimen.

Complete series published in 1633 of 18 original etchings in rare second state out of three, progressive numbering of the sheets in the lower right corner, margins of ca. 15-20 mm. It imagines the sad events that afflicted Lorraine in 1633 when the French besieged Nancy. The tragic compositions reflect the state of mind of a sick Callot, who in his last years of life witnessing the tragic end of his country. Magnificent specimen of this rare and animated manual suite, one of the artist's masterpieces.
