Interessanti informazioni sull’amministrazione tedesca delle Colonie, inviate dal console francese a F. Faure, ‘Depute au Havre’.
Henri Merou, 1853-1938, diplomatico e poeta, prestò servizio consolare per 14 anni in Belgio e Germania, prima di essere nominato viceconsole a Galveston negli Stati Uniti e poi console generale per tutto il Texas. F. Faure Félix, 1841-1899, dopo aver fatto fortuna nel commercio del cuoio a Le Havre, fu eletto deputato repubblicano moderato (1881) prima di diventare sottosegretario di Stato al commercio e alle colonie. Rieletto più volte deputato (1885, 1889 e 1893), continuò la sua ascesa. Ricoprì per due volte l'incarico di Sottosegretario di Stato alla Marina e alle Colonie (1883-1885 e 1888) prima di ottenere la consacrazione a Ministro della Marina (1894-1895), infine Presidente della Repubblica, dal 17.01.1895 al 16.02.1899.

Henri Merou, 1853-1938, diplomat and poet, served consular service for 14 years in Belgium and Germany, before being appointed vice consul at Galveston in the United States and then consul general for all of Texas. F. Faure Félix, 1841-1899, after making his fortune in the leather trade in Le Havre, was elected moderate republican deputy (1881) before becoming Undersecretary of State for Commerce and the Colonies. Re-elected deputy several times (1885, 1889 and 1893), he continued his rise. He held the position of Undersecretary of State for the Navy and the Colonies twice (1883-1885 and 1888) before obtaining the consecration as Minister of the Navy (1894-1895), and finally President of the Republic, from 17.01.1895 to 16.02. 1899.
