Malouet, deputy of the Third Estate, one of the leaders of the royalist faction, defends the supporters of the aristocracy who had been arrested following the revolt of June 11-12, 1790 in Avignon, and who had been transferred to Orange, to prevent them from being massacred . Speech given in the December 1790 Session of the National Constituent Assembly, as indicated in the “Collection des opinions de M. Malouet”, (Vol.3), published in 1792. The Author, 1740-1814, politician and landowner, was Counselor of the King, director of the Navy, sent to Marseilles in 1780, Deputy of the Third Estate of Riom in the States General, founder of the Club des Impartiaux, emigrated to England in 1792. He returned to France in 1801.
