First and only edition on the history of Corfu, beautifully illustrated. Navari: “The early standard history of Corfu”. A large part of the work is devoted to Venice, which annexed the Ionian Islands in 1386 and held them until 1797. There is also an account of the Turkish invasion of 1536. In addition to the historical content, this interesting work includes a list of all the important families living on Corfu at the time. The plates, in a very fresh impression, include a general map, a plan of Kerssopolis, and one of the town of Corfu with its fortresses.
