Zola addresses to a dear friend a brief and cordial letter to beg him to deposit on his current account, registered with the Credit of Lyon, whose number is written later, a sum of money. The letter is sent by Médan, a place known for having been, for over twenty years, the second residence of the writer, who in 1878 had bought a country house just outside the town.
