Carta postale viaggiata. 8vo, 145x245 mm. Indirizzo con affrancatura sul retro. Firmata con data "Septembre 1924 Villefranche-sur-Mer". Inviata a Joseph Kessel a Sceaux. Unita una fotografia originale con ritratto del 1935.

«Mon cher Kessel. 1° Venez vite nous rejoindre ici. 2° Pour reprendre mon activité il me faudra l'aide d'un secrétaire. Gachot me sauverait - Il cherche 700 f pour vivre - Je lui donnerai 300 - Lacretelle [l'écrivain Jacques de Lacrelle] m'affirme que vous pourrez lui trouver dans le journalisme un poste qui lui procurera le reste (car je l'exploiterai fort peu) - C'est une perle et un travailleur acharné - Il rendrait à un journal des services extraordinaires. Répond vite (je préfère te tutoyer). Tu aiderais ainsi à ma résurrection. Je t'embrasse. Jean»

Jean Cocteau si rifugiò nel sud della Francia per piangere Raymond Radiguet, suo grande amico, la cui morte improvvisa all'età di 20 anni distrusse Cocteau. Attendeva con impazienza Kessel in quanto molto vicino a Radiguet. Kessel era giornalista del Journal des Débats. Il François Gachot di cui si parla nella lettera diventerà infatti il segretario di Jean Cocteau.

Jean Cocteau took refuge in the south of France to mourn Raymond Radiguet, a great friend of him, whose sudden death at the age of 20 destroyed Cocteau. He was looking forward to Kessel as he was very close to Radiguet. Kessel was a journalist for the Journal des Débats. The François Gachot mentioned in the letter will in fact become Jean Cocteau's secretary.
