4to; 200x155 mm; Legatura coeva in piena pergamena, tit. mss. sul dorso; pp. 16 nn. (incl. Front.), 318; corsivo in greco e latino. Bella marca tip. al Front., Iniz. figur. xil. Occasionali aloni di umidità e macchiette, buon esemplare. 

Prima Edizione di questo notevole trattato «miniera di erudizione antiquaria ancor oggi» (Schlosser). F. Junius (1589-1677) studiò e lavorò in Inghilterra, fu bibliotecario del conte Arundel, ma appartenne all’ambiente artistico franco olandese, fu amico di Rubens e Antony Van Dyck. «La sua grande opera archeologica “De pictura veterum” è, al pari di quella di Winckelmann, costruita nello stile di un grande trattato di conio classicistico, nonostante le sue tendenze storiche» (Schlosser).
