6 fogli uniti, complessivamente 1.230x1.145 mm. Carta murale intelata e arrotolata su due barre di legno bianco. Incisione su rame con coloritura out-line. Buono stato di conservazione. 

Magnifica carta murale, corretta ed accresciuta dall’autore, con l’inserimento della Tartaria e della Cina. Alexis-Hubert Jaillot, 1632-1712 circa, fu uno dei più importanti cartografi francesi del diciassettesimo secolo. Jaillot si recò a Parigi con suo fratello Simon nel 1657. Originariamente scultore, nel 1665 sposò la figlia dell'editore e commerciante di stampe Nicholas Berey, di cui acquisì il fondo geografico, e si unì ai figli di Nicholas Sanson. A partire dal 1669, reincise e ampliò molte delle mappe di Sanson, colmando il vuoto lasciato dalla distruzione della stamperia di Blaeu nel 1672.

6 sheets joined, overall 1,230x1,145 mm, mounted on linen and framed with wooden white rollers. Etching, contemporary colored in outline. Good specimen. 

Striking large wall map in 6 sheets joined, corrected and enhanced by the author, with inset of Tartary and China. Alexis-Hubert Jaillot (ca. 1632-1712) was one of the most important French cartographers of the seventeenth century. Jaillot traveled to Paris with his brother, Simon, in 1657. Originally a sculptor, in 1665 he married the daughter of the publisher and print dealer Nicholas Berey, of whom he acquired the geographic fund, and went into partnership with Nicholas Sanson's sons. Beginning in 1669, he re-engraved and often enlarged many of Sanson's maps, filling in the gap left by the destruction of the Blaeu's printing establishment in 1672.
