2 pagine in 8vo, 210x135 mm. Lettera su carta intestata con il suo indirizzo di Parigi, firmata con data “18 Nov. 32". Allegata una foto con ritratto.

Lo scrittore ha appena letto, con le lacrime agli occhi, la lettera di Bonheur, suo grande amico. 
« Tout de même, en passant un jour à Paris, quel plaisir me feriez-vous en venant sonner à ma porte ! Si bousculé que je sois par la vie, je me sens parfois très seul, certaines affections du passé n’ont jamais été remplacées ». [Tuttavia, se un giorno dovessi passare per Parigi, che piacere mi faresti suonando il campanello! Per quanto sia spinto dalla vita, a volte mi sento molto solo, certi affetti del passato non sono mai stati sostituiti]

Il musicista Raymond Bonheur, nipote del pittore Rosa, riceveva spesso Gide a Magny-les-Hameaux (dove lì la scuola porta suo nome). Mise in musica "Les Elégies" di Gide. Gide scrisse un bellissimo tributo a Bonheur alla sua morte e la loro corrispondenza fu pubblicata.

The writer has just read, with tears in his eyes, the letter from Bonheur, a great friend of him.
«Tout de meme, en passant un jour à Paris, that plaisir me feriez-vous en venant sonner à ma porte! Si bousculé que je sois par la vie, je me sens parfois très seul, certaines affections du passé n’ont jamais été remplacées ". [However, if one day you were to pass through Paris, what a pleasure you would do me by ringing the bell! As much as I am driven by life, I sometimes feel very lonely, certain past affections have never been replaced]

The musician Raymond Bonheur, grandson of the painter Rosa, often received Gide at Magny-les-Halameux (here the school is dedicated to him). He put Gide's "Les Elégies" to music. Gide wrote a beautiful tribute to Bonheur on his death and their correspondence was published.
