9 Dicembre 1878
Bifolio in-8vo. 205x133 mm. Testo su 3 pagine, pagina 2 bianca. Grafia in minuto corsivo, inchiostro bruno. Due date in testa, Vitry, Seine, 9 Decembre 1878; due firme in fine. Buona conservazione.

Due differenti comunicazioni nello stesso bifolio, con la medesima data. La prima di carattere più personale, la seconda che riguarda la collaborazione per alcune conferenze di latino.

Bifolio in 12mo. 130x13 mm. Testo su 1 pagina, 3 bianche. Busta viaggiata indirizzata a Monsieur E. Benoist … Nancy’. Grafia in minuto corsivo, inchiostro bruno. Data in testa ‘8 mars 1882’, firma in fine

Riferimento all’Associazione dei vecchi allievi dell’Ecole Normale di Parigi, di cui facevano parte entrambi. 

Eugène Auguste Ernest Havet, 1813 – 1889, filologo e storico, allievo dell’Ecole Normale di Parigi, fu Professore presso la stessa Ecole Normale e dal 1854 Professore di Eloquenza latina al College de France. 
Le sue due opere capitali furono un commento alle opere di Pascal, "Pensées de Pascal, publiées dans le texte authentique, avec un commentaire suivi et une étude littéraire" (1852), e "Le Christianisme et ses origines" (4 voll., 1871–1884), la cui tesi principale era che il cristianesimo doveva più alla filosofia greca che agli scritti dei profeti ebrei.
Eugène Benoist, 1831 – 1887, uno dei più influenti latinisti francesi del XIX secolo, fu autore di numerose opere, per la maggior parte edizioni di autori latini antichi o articoli critici su sezioni di opere latine. I suoi autori originali sono: Plauto, Terenzio, Lucrezio, Virgilio, Orazio, Catullo, Giulio Cesare e Livio.

Bifolio in-8vo. 205x133 mm. Text on 3 pages, page 2 blank. Handwriting in minute cursive, brown ink. Two dates in the head, Vitry, Seine, 9 December 1878; two signatures at the end. Good condition.

Two different communications in the same bifolio, with the same date. The first is of a more personal nature, the second concerns collaboration for some Latin conferences.


2. “Mon cher collegue et ami”.
8 March 1882
Bifolio in 12mo. 130x13mm. Text on 1 page, 3 blank. Sent envelope addressed to Monsieur E. Benoist … Nancy'. Handwriting in minute cursive, brown ink. Date at the top '8 Mars 1882', signature at the end.

Reference to the Association of old students of the Ecole Normale in Paris, of which they both belonged.

Eugène Auguste Ernest Havet, 1813 – 1889, philologist and historian, student of the Ecole Normale in Paris, was Professor at the same Ecole Normale and, from 1854, Professor of Latin Eloquence at the College de France. His two most important works were a commentary on the works of Pascal, "Pensées de Pascal, publiées dans le texte authentique, avec un commentaire suivi et une étude littéraire" (1852; 2nd ed. 2 vols., 1881), and "Le Christianisme et ses origines" (4 vols., 1871–1884), the chief thesis of which was that Christianity owed more to Greek philosophy than to the writings of the Hebrew prophets.
Eugène Benoist, 1831 – 1887, one of the most influential French Latinists of the 19th century, was the author of numerous works, mostly editions of ancient Latin authors or critical articles on sections of Latin works. His original authors are: Plautus, Terence, Lucretius, Virgil, Horace, Catullus, Julius Caesar and Livy.
