NOLLI, Carlo Et al. Seven color plates.
Naples, Second half of the 18th century
Copper engravings with hand coloring. Various sizes. Good conditions.
Mythological scenes with nymphs and zodiacal allegories. Engravings with magnificent hand coloring, with bright gouache colors, reproducing the chromatism of the frescoes that emerged from the archaeological excavations of the mid-18th century.
They were included, without coloring, in the monumental work ‘Le Antichità di Ercolano spiegate’, Naples, Regia Stamperia, 1757-1792. Twenty-five leading artists were involved in preparing drawings and engravings on the finds, including Giovanni Elia Morghen, Carlo Nolli and Giovanni Battista Casanova.
