Incisioni su lastra di rame. Due fogli uniti insieme, misure complete di 580x865 mm. Rifilata sul rame. Al margine inferiore iscrizioni con nomi degli autori e dati tipografici. Buon esemplare.

Questa incisione riproduce su carta un dipinto realizzato da Nicolas Poussin come parte di una serie raffigurante i Sette Sacramenti della Chiesa cattolica; la serie, realizzata tra il 1644 e il 1648, ora nella Bridgewater Collection in prestito alle National Galleries of Scotland. J. Pesne, 1623-1700, era particolarmente specializzato nell’incisione delle opere di Poussin. BM: “The Extreme Unction: classical setting, with mourning figures surrounding a dying man lying in a bed; at centre, the priest leaning over the dying man and touching his hand. c.1680/94. Etching”.

Copperplate engravings. Two sheets joined together, complete size 580x865 mm. Trimmed on copper. In the lower margin inscriptions with name of authors and typographical data. Good specimen.

This engraving reproduces on paper a painting made by Nicolas Poussin as part of a series depicting the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church; the series, made between 1644 and 1648, now in the Bridgewater Collection on loan to the National Galleries of Scotland. J. Pesne, 1623-1700, was particularly specialized in engraving the works of Poussin.
