Hore intemerate dei genitricis virginis marie secundum usum romanum totaliter ad longum quam plurimis sanctorum sanctarumque devotissimis his adiunctis orationibus et suffragiis.

In-8vo, 180x110 mm. Dimensioni dei fogli, 172x107 mm. Legatura in vitello bruno scuro con decori in oro a motivi floreali sui piatti e sul dorso a 5 nervi, tagli dorati, fermagli in ottone. 108 fogli non numerati, in 14 fascicoli, Segn: A-N8, O4. 
Stampato con inchiostro nero e rosso, carattere di scrittura gotica rotunda, ogni pagina con grande bordura incisa. Giustificazione, testo e bordo 152x90 mm, specchio di scrittura di 26 righe 105x60 mm. Sulla prima pagina, sopra il titolo, marca tipografica di Kerver. 19 grandi incisioni, numerose incisioni più piccole (6-9 righe), bordi incisi istoriati e figurati. Iniziali di diverse dimensioni miniate in oro su fondo blu e rosso con riflessi bianchi.
Al foglio A2 ‘Almanach … usque ad annum Mil.CCCCCxxx, 1506-1530. Colophon alla fine, O4: “Finit officium beate marie virginis secundum usum Romanum cum missa eiudem: & septem psalmis penitentialibus: cum officio mortuorum / sancte crucis & sancti spiritus: una cum horis conceptionis eiusdem gloriose virginis…..Parisius impressum anno domini millesimo quingentesimo undecimo die vero quinta mensis aprilis. Opera Thielmanni Kerver commorantis in vico sancti Iacobi ad intersignium craticule.”
Buono stato di conservazione. 
 
Rarissima edizione figurata, interamente impressa su pergamena. Oltre alle magnifiche illustrazioni a piena pagina, fra le quali spiccano il Frontespizio con la marca dello stampatore, il cui stemma e sorretto da due unicorni, e la celebre tavola con l’Uomo Anatomico al verso del Frontespizio, questa edizione è particolarmente preziosa per le grandi bordure figurate che incorniciano il testo. 
Fra queste, una stupefacente Danza della Morte che comincia alla carta H3 e prosegue fino alla carta L3, con mostri e diavoli che tormentano peccatori e dannati. 
 
Thielman Kerver, attivo dal 1497 al 1522, tipografo, libraio ed editore (‘libraire juré’) associato all'Università di Parigi, nacque a Coblenza in Germania. Si trasferì a Parigi per lavorare come libraio e, con lo stampatore Jean Philippe, si interessò alla pubblicazione dei Libri d'Ore. Stampò il suo primo libro indipendente, intitolato Hore beate Marie Virginis secundum usum Sarum, per la Chiesa di Salisbury nel 1497. Divenne un editore di grande successo ed era particolarmente noto per i suoi Libri d'Ore. Tra il novembre 1503 e il 1520 il suo negozio si trovava in rue Saint-Jacques all'insegna di Gril, come indicato nel Colophon del presente esemplare.

In-8vo, 180x110 mm. Leaves dimensions, 172x107 mm. Binding in dark brown calf leather with gilt floral motif decoration on the covers and on spine with 5 nerfs, gilt edges, brass clasps. 108 unnumbered leaves, in 14 fascicles, Collation: A-N8, O4. 
Printed in black and red ink, rotunda Gothic type, each page with large engraved border. Justification, text and border 152x90 mm, writing mirror of 26 lines 105x60 mm. On the first page, above the title, Kerver's device. 19 large engravings, numerous smaller engravings (6-9 lines), historiated and illustrated engraved borders. Initials of different sizes illuminated in gold on a blue and red background with white highlights.
On leaf A2 'Almanach ... usque ad annum Mil.CCCCCxxx, 1506-1530. A very rare illustrated edition, printed entirely on vellum. In addition to the magnificent full-page illustrations, including the Frontispiece with the printer's mark, whose coat of arms is supported by two unicorns, and the famous plate with the Anatomical Man on the verso of the Frontispiece, this edition is particularly valuable for the large figured borders that frame the text. 
These include a stunning Dance of Death that begins at map H3 and continues to map L3, with monsters and devils tormenting sinners and the damned.
 
In addition to the magnificent full-page illustrations, including the Titlepage with the monogram of the printer and the famous plate with the Anatomical Man, this edition is particularly valuable for the large figured borders that frame the text. 
 
Thielman Kerver, active from 1497 to 1522, printer, bookseller and publisher ('libraire juré') associated with the University of Paris, was born in Koblenz in Germany. He moved to Paris to work as a bookseller and, with the printer Jean Philippe, became interested in the publication of Books of Hours. He printed his first independent book, entitled Hore beate Marie Virginis secundum usum Sarum, for the Church of Salisbury in 1497. He became a very successful publisher and was particularly known for his Books of Hours. Between November 1503 and 1520, his shop was located in the Rue Saint-Jacques under the sign of Gril, as indicated in the Colophon of this copy.
