In 8vo. 142x98 mm. Legatura del XVIII secolo in pergamena rigida, titolo in oro su tassello. Carte non numerate: 40; 256. Segnatura: a-e8; a-z8 A-F8 G4, ˛A-B8 C4, (i8 bianca). Marca tipografica con Ancora di Aldo alla carta e8 della prima parte. Due Colophon: a carta G4r, alla fine della Tebaide: “Venetijs: in Academia Aldi Ro., mense Nouembri 1502”; a carta ˛C4r, alla fine dell'Achilleide, “Venetijs in aedibus Aldi, mense Augusto 1502”. Carattere italico. Nota manoscritta di precedente possessore al verso dell’ultima carta. Piccoli difetti alla legatura, restauri al margine interno delle ultime quattro carte, in complesso buon esemplare. 

Prima edizione aldina, esemplare completo della parte dell'Ortografia. Rarissima prima tiratura, riconoscibile per errore nel Colophon alla fine del volume “cautum est et in hoc”, invece di “cautum est in hoc”. Renouard, che riporta il Colophon corretto, nota a proposito di questa edizione: “Pour que ce volume soit complet, il faut en outre une partie separée de 40 feuillets, qui se trouve tante au commencement, tante a la fin avec ce titre en capitales : «Orthographia … » avec l’ancre a la fin.”
L’edizione comprende tutte le opere esistenti di Stazio: ‘Sylvae’ č una raccolta di poesie occasionali dedicate ad eventi quali la costruzione di una statua imperiale, un matrimonio, i bagni, un albero, i capelli di un eunuco e altro; il poema epico ‘Thebaidos’" narra lo scontro per il potere tra due fratelli per il trono di Tebe, dopo la morte del re Edipo; ‘Achilleidos’ avrebbe dovuto raccontare la storia di Achille dalla sua giovinezza fino alla sua morte a Troia, ma rimase incompiuto alla morte di Stazio. 
L'Orthographia di Aldo, con dedica all'umanista Marco Musuro, elenca in ordine alfabetico tutti i prestiti greci usati da Stazio, fornendo sinonimi greci e significato latino. In questo esemplare precede le opere di Stazio.

In 8vo. 142x98 mm. 18th-century binding in stiff vellum, gilt title on label. Unnumbered leaves: 40; 256. Collation: a-e8; a-z8 A-F8 G4, ˛A-B8 C4, (i8 blank). Printer's device with Aldo's anchor on leaf e8 of the first part. Two Colophons: on leaf G4r, at the end of the Thebaid: “Venetijs: in Academia Aldi Ro., mense Nouembri 1502”; on paper ˛C4r, at the end of the Achilleide, “Venetijs in aedibus Aldi, mense Augusto 1502”. Italic type. Handwritten note of previous owner on the verso of the last leaf. Small defects to the binding, restorations to the inner margin of the last four leaves, overall a good copy.

First Aldine edition, complete copy of the Orthography part. Very rare first issue, recognizable by an error at the colophon: "cautum est et in hoc" instead of "cautum est in hoc".
Renouard, who reports the correct Colophon, notes about this edition: “Pour que ce volume soit complet, il faut en outre une partie separée de 40 feuillets, qui se trouve tanto au commencement, tanto a la fin avec ce titre en capitals: « Orthographia … » avec l’ancre a la fin.” (To be complete, this volume must include a separate part of 40 sheets, which is found sometimes at the beginning, sometimes at the end, with this title in capitals: « Orthographia … » with the anchor at the end.)
The edition includes all of Statius' existing works: 'Sylvae' is a collection of occasional poems dedicated to events such as the construction of an imperial statue, a wedding, bathing, a tree, the hair of a eunuch and more; the epic poem ‘Thebaidos’" narrates the power struggle between two brothers for the throne of Thebes, after the death of King Oedipus; ‘Achilleidos’ was supposed to tell the story of Achilles from his youth to his death in Troy, but was left unfinished at the death of Statius.
Aldus's Orthographia, with a dedication to the humanist Marcus Musurus, lists in alphabetical order all the Greek loans used by Statius, providing Greek synonyms and Latin meanings. In this copy it precedes Statius' works.
